PROGRAMS

"Agents for Change"

Agents for Change is a program that lasts seven years. The Objective of the Agents of Change program is to give children with low socio-economic resources the opportunity to develop their skills through education and support. This is done by improving the continuity of their studies (either in private or public schools) that offer the educational means according to their potential.

Aware that this objective demands a process of adaptation by the child, the Foundation has a dedicated team of professionals to provide the necessary support to solve this challenge.

Agents for Change is divided in 3 different stages:

1. Identification:
Germinare identifies, through the choices they make, those specific children of 9-10 years with genuine interest and willingness to access a better quality education through interviews, assessments and meetings with families. It also carries out a process of psychoanalysis which is used to understand the most profound and complete capability possessed by each child, as well as to investigate certain aspects that then influence their performance during the program. Among them, the Foundation seeks to understand the affective world that is familiar to the child, their strengths and weaknesses in their level of thinking and predict their ability to acquire the conceptual content for membership in the new educational situation.

2. Intensive Academic Support:
During the first year, children continue to attend school and receive equalization intensive classes in language, logistics, mathematics and English, so they are ready for entering the new school. The aim of this preparation is to stimulate the children's development and strengthening of the core skills to enable them to address any academic content once they enter the new institutions. Through reading and analysis of varied texts, students are faced with situations that help them think and express their ideas. This is to introduce a new way of learning, focusing on what they can do and implement thematic critical thinking and self-improvement. They attend a Personal Growth Workshop as well, which analyzes challenges in the next step.

3. Integration - Monitoring:
From the child’s integration into the new school (1 ESB / 4th or 5th grade) until the completion of polymodal (NIM), the child receives support classes, health psychology and participates in workshops, to ensure that: the education received explores their potential, responds to their aspirations, and positively changes their environment.

During the seven years the last Agents for Change Germinare provides opportunities that broaden students' aspirations and awareness of life’s possibilities, while building each young person's sense of self and personal potential.
