Our history

The Universidad Torcuato Di Tella was created on the pillars of two cornerstone organizations in Argentina: the SIAM factory (1910) and the Instituto Torcuato Di Tella (1958).

SIAM was the country’s largest industrial company of its time and also the first Argentine organization to have commercial presence in several Latin American countries and in Europe. Innovative and with a global vision, it produced over 250 different products, ranging from household appliances to gas pumps and cars.

The Instituto Torcuato Di Tella (1958) was home of the artistic vanguard of the late 50s through the 60s. Also center of outstanding research in the social sciences, the Instituto brought together some of Argentina’s most influential intellectuals and artists.

Inheriting the entrepreneurial and innovative spirit of the SIAM company and the vanguardist essence of the Instituto Torcuato Di Tella, the University produces basic and applied knowledge in an environment of pluralism, academic excellence and equal opportunity.

    Nomination Scholarships Program

Through the Nomination Scholarships Program, we seek strategic allies who support one or more students by committing to cover their tuition fees at the University. The scholarship recipients are proposed by the University and approved by the donor, taking into account the specific goals of each commitment. The program benefits students from their second year onwards who have successfully completed their first year of studies and have financial need.

The nomination of a space on campus is a way to support the growth of Di Tella, invest in knowledge, excellence, and innovation, and make an impact on the future of Argentina. The goal is to inaugurate classrooms and spaces to support the development of new disciplines and programs, recruit scholars from different backgrounds and geographies, and facilitate the return of professors. We are forming a group of professionals within a framework of intellectual freedom and pluralism of ideas, ready to influence the Argentine reality.
