The benefits of volunteering in Argentina

Volunteering in Argentina combines travel, professional Volunteer Program
experience and an opportunity to give back to a community in need. Working as a volunteer in Argentina you can look forward to gaining:

•    Unique perspectives about Argentine culture, life, and the most pressing social issues.

•    Language immersion in Castellano (the local term for Spanish).

•    Help your host organization fulfill its mission and goals, acting as an added resource to the programs and projects that they implement.

•    International volunteer experience, an invaluable addition to any CV or resume.

•    A connection to other international volunteers and a chance to make new friends from different countries.

•    Opportunities to keep helping after you return home.

"Volunteering is a simple, proactive way to give back to the community at large. It is an invaluable experience that both builds awareness about important social issues and allows the volunteer to use his or her skills in activities that better our society. Our principle goal is to provide the volunteers with the support system necessary to "be" the difference in Argentina." Jon Teel, InsightArgentina Volunteer Program Coordinator

Insight Argentina’s Volunteer Program

Our volunteer program is a life-changing opportunity Volunteer program 2
for both foreign individuals and groups who seek to make a difference in Argentina.

By customizing every volunteer placement, we seek to provide impactful and rewarding experiences to those who wish to explore Argentine life, integrate themselves in Argentine society, and to become acquainted with some of Argentina's most pressing social issues.

We have individual volunteer placements throughout Argentina and across a variety of different fields in the Argentine social sector. We have created a volunteer projects page to give you an insight into the type of projects we have available, and to provide you with a general overview of the potential tasks you could perform as a volunteer.

Once you apply, we will seek to match your skills and interests with a suitable volunteer project, whilst also providing you with information on the organization that hosts the volunteer project. Please note that we do ask that potential volunteers meet some basic requirements, and these are outlined on our Requirements page.

What's included in the Program?

Our objective is to provide essential support to volunteers and the host organizations they volunteer with. Your one-time flat fee contribution allows us to continue our personalized volunteer program. In a nutshell, we commit to provide the following:

Pre-Program Assistancevolunteer program 3

•    An application process that will ensure a good match between your skills and interests, and a suitable volunteer project.

•    Important information about your volunteer project, including information about your host organization, and a basic description of the potential duties that you will be performing.

•    Orientation materials about Argentina and a pre-departure guide with tips for your trip.

•    Access to a select database of service providers for your housing needs, Spanish classes, and options for airport pick-up.

•    An opportunity to connect to current and former volunteers on our Facebook page

In-Country Assistancevolunteer progrm 4

•    Individual Orientation: A meeting that includes important information on your volunteer project, with rules and guidelines for your volunteer experience. We also give relevant tips and suggestions about how to make the most out of your time in Argentina.

•    You are accompanied by a staff member on your first day, and periodic visits to your volunteer project are common.

•    We also provide information on language exchanges, cultural events and other activities during your volunteer stay.

Post-Program Assistance

We can provide the following upon request:

•    A letter of recommendation that includes a review of the duties and responsibilities completed during your volunteer experience.

•    A certificate of participation in our program.

•    Information on how to become a Social Ambassador, or donor, for your volunteer project.

Group Projectsvolunteer program 5

Besides individual volunteering, a key component of our volunteer program is organizing Group Projects. We offer a customized service to your group in order to maximize your group’s potential to give back to an Argentine community in simple, concrete, and productive ways. From day one, we will assist your group and coordinate every aspect of your stay, ranging from airport pick-up to local transportation each day, on-site project management, and evaluation.

Group initiatives may include: building gardens in local schools or community centers, construction projects, renovation or remodeling of local infrastructure, and youth outreach or education.

Our group project fee offers discounts for groups of more than 5 people and is geared towards providing affordable experiences that are engaging, fun, and rewarding.

Since 2006, our program has coordinated more than 10 groups totaling 65 individuals.

We believe in the potential of groups to transform communities in a short period of time and we look forward to receiving your group!

Becoming a Social Ambassador

Many former volunteers stay in contact with their volunteer projects. You can continue to support your project by becoming a Social Ambassador. A Social Ambassador raises awareness for their host organizations and projects by organizing small (or large!) events and fundraisers.

" By being able to sponsor benefits back home and to easily maintain contact with fellow Ambassadors, HelpArgentina truly offers its volunteers the opportunity  to really make a difference." Shane, volunteer in BA, January - March 2007
