HelpArgentina is a nonprofit that allows international donors to identify and support high impact nonprofits in Argentina.

Our goal is to strengthen the nonprofits working to create social change in Argentina, increase confidence in the nonprofit sector and promote the culture of giving among Argentines.

Why Argentina?

Responde

Responde

Responde is an Argentine NGO which works for the recuperation and rejuvenation of small rural communities which are at risk of disappearing due to depopulation. Our work is an internationally recognised response to increasing levels of poverty in large urban centres, the degradation of the environment and the loss of cultural and historical heritage.

Our international volunteering scheme, the Revival Programme (www.responde.org.ar/revival) offers a unique volunteering experience not at all representative of the increasingly more globalised images of life in Latin America. The mere exposure to the communities with which Responde works is an extraordinarily enriching and eye-opening experience.

Some people  may be interested in participating in such a scheme during their gap years or before embarking on their professional careers or to do during vacations.

Volunteers are needed for teaching, agricultural work, construction and various community projects in five different villages across Argentina. Posts are also available in the Responde headquaters which are based in the city of Buenos Aires.

For more details please go to www.responde.org.ar/revival and look under "programmes and projects".

If you wish to volunteer for Responde please visit http://www.responde.org.ar/revival and click on the "how to apply section" where you will find an application form and more details.

RESPONDE promotes the recovery of villages that are at risk of disappearing or undergoing serious crises, encouraging their people to become the protagonists of change. Our proposal is focused on creative and innovative social and economic development projects.
  • To propose solutions for the containment of the depopulation process.
  • To promote development with due respect for the local culture and spirit.
  • To provide personal development opportunities for people living in the communities.

In Argentina more than 600 small rural villages have become isolated and have lost a great part of their basic infrastructure. They lack public transportation, high schools, communications, employment opportunities, and health services. This situation forces the residents to emigrate to cities that are not prepared to receive them and they end up in a situation of even graver marginality. Lamentably, there are no public policies to work towards solving this serious situation. This is reason for which our mission is oriented towards distinct programs to promote local development so that people can maintain their cultural roots and remain in their native villages.

Up until how, RESPONDE has been able to provide assistance to at least 5% of the villages at risk in Argentina. Within this seemingly small percentage, over 270,000 people have benefitted.
