ACIJ implements a variety of programs that work towards its institutional goals:
Community Legal Action
As part of this program, ACIJ has created the Community Legal Help Center (CLHC), as a common space specifically for social organizations, with the goal of providing legal advice and defense free for the community in collective situations and cases. In coordination with the Municipality of Moreno, in Greater Buenos Aires, the topics in which we work are principally related to the conditions of access to and provision of public services, as well as the defense of social and economic rights of the community.
Institutional Strengthening
The work of the Institutional Strengthening Program is carried out through the investigation and litigation of cases in the public interest, generating and diffusing information, and establishing networks with other social organizations in a way that contributes to bettering their work. The necessities of the democratic system require the support of its citizens in the strengthening of its institutions as an indirect exercise of the sovereignty of the people.
Discrimination due to Socioeconomic Condition
This initiative seeks to demonstrate to the Justice Department and the legal community in general that unequal treatment given to the poor in comparison with other groups of society is not only unjust but can lead to prosecution.
Work Networks in Disadvantaged Urban Communities
ACIJ works to strengthen the capacity of civil society groups to defend citizen rights, offering them our reliable legal structure to channel existing appeals and demands from residents and neighborhood organizations in the poorest neighborhoods of the City of Buenos Aires.
Public Services
This program includes a series of investigation initiatives, formulation of proposals and actions of relevant impact in the design and functioning of the Public Services system and ensuring the effective respect for the rights of the users in the regulation and management of basic services.
Educational Equality in Buenos Aires
Said program works in the identification of problems, the generation of public conscience, and the promotion of citizen actions to challenge and surpass existing discriminatory situations within the educational system of the City of Buenos Aires with respect to people of fewer economic resources.
