This program helps improve the housing conditions of low incomes families through the distribution of micro credits. These credits are requested by four to five families who come together to form a solidarity group as guarantor for the solicited amount. In this way, we have given housing improvement credits to more than 8,500 families in north-western Greater Buenos Aires, resulting in 73.330 m2 of sanitary living space. Through this program, as well as an alliance with a leading construction company, we are developing a range of credits for sequential sanitary kitchen and bath projects.
Comprehensive Gasification Program.
The objective is to sufficiently organize currently unconnected low income residents through the social trust fund structure. By organizing this way, the residents can generate the conditions necessary to attract investments. Thanks to the savings generated by substituting for a more economical fuel source, (the difference is 8 to 1 compared to the current gas cylinder), the average family’s real income has effectively increased by around 7%. This program has benefitted more than 14.500 persons. http://www.lanacion.com.ar/nota.asp?nota_id=112023
Neighborhood Development Observatory.
In coordination with la Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, the Foundation has developed the Neighborhood Development Observatory. The Observatory looks to achieve the following: monitor the impact of the Foundation’s programs, analyze the processes of the informal economy, reduce investment risks to private enterprises, assist the State in the application of explicit subsidies, and generate academic knowledge. We have conducted two studies and subsequently presented the results in papers and conferences. The kitchen and bathroom improvement program involves sequential improvement modules for low income families. A series of modules begins with access to running water and ends with the installation of sanitary fixtures. This innovative model expands on the traditional uses of microcredits. The aim is to build 12,000 modules a year until 2012.
