Fortaleciendo los Valores de la Democracia [Strengthening the Values of Democracy] is a civic education program intended to awaken citizenship awareness and the development of political participation through public policy projects. Its implementation takes place through teacher trainings on participative skills intended for the public policy formulation process. Their focus lays on community problems’ recognition, development of projects targeting these problems and the build up of an action plan specially designed for it.
Teacher trainings provide an efficient space for participants’ participation. They are interactive, and promote debate on local problems. Their goal is the development of public policy initiatives intended to be submitted and presented to local authorities. Their methodology is Project Citizen, Center For Civic Education, CA, USA.
This program also includes a call for national projects’ with awards for five selected initiatives throughout the country; and a national showcase where projects are presented by their creators (high school students) to local and national authorities.
