Why Argentina?

Banco de Alimentos

Banco de Alimentos
Our daily work at Banco de Alimentos, through the years, is the war against hunger in Argentina (fighting hunger in Argentina) and the way we do it is through the efficient and transparent management of food donations received from different companies. This food is aken to our warehouses, where we classify and deliver it to thousands of hungry individuals in our country.
With a procedure as simple as this, we provide food to more than 480 organizations and soup kitchens in Buenos Aires City and its surrounding areas where more than 78,000 hungry individuals are fed.

In order to fulfill each step of this process your monthly donation is indispensable. Today there are hundreds of institutions and soup kitchens in our waiting list and with as little as u$s 23 per month you are helping us to feed 68 individuals.

Don´t wait until tomorrow.  Walk with us as from today.

Thousands of people are thanking you for your effort.

Subject Area: Nutrition

Location: Federal Capital & Greater Buenos Aires

Helping those suffering from hunger by asking for, and distributing foods fit for consumption. Educating about issues surrounding hunger and malnutrition.

In the present, Fundacion Banco de Alimentos distributes 250 tonnes of foodstuffs per month and counts with the necessary logistics to quickly classify, store, and distribute  food. We have an 800 square-meter warehouse equipped with walk-in coolers and freezers. Our computerized information system tracks the stock and expiration dates of all food stored in the warehouse and enables us to provide detailed reports of food donors.  The organization  works under strict quality control policies, allowing us to be ISO 9001:2000 certified.

Fundacion Banco de Alimentos provides Food donations  to more than  480 organizations in Capital Federal and Greater Buenos Aires, feeding more than  79.000 persons. Our partner organizations include soup kitchens, day-care centers, schools, community centers, homes for needy children and nursing homes. These organizations go through an evaluation and selection process to be incorporated into the Food Bank network. This evaluation is done based on documentation provided by the organization, geographical area location, poverty level and a first visit to ensure that organizations meet our equipment and control  of sanitation requirements.  If the agency meets these requirements it is built to start receiving food.
Every six months, volunteers make a monitoring visit to each agency. These visit  also help us to strengthen our relationship with our partner organizations.
Partner organizations pick up food donations form our warehouse and make a contribution of $0.50 per kilo of food received

To recover that food which cannot be sold by our donors due to different reasons
