FUNDRAISING EVENTS:
-ALPI Charity Night: It's a gala dinner held since 1998. It's a moment of encounter and joy for those who are always with us, where elegance, music, good taste and delicious gourmet food specially prepared for this night are combined.
This dinner gathers well-known people of different fields such as, culture, show business, press, and business companies; thanks to their presence, this night is a significant source of incomes that makes it possible for us to continue our mission, renewing our commitment to those who need it the most.
This year, the Charity Night was held on August 13th at the Alvear Palace Hotel.
- ALPI at the Annual Cattle Expo at La Rural: Since 1957, ALPI has a stand of homemade meals, assisted by volunteers.
- Inter-Company Golf Tournament: It gathers teams from different companies participating in the tournament, showing their commitment to society. The last tournament was held on November 8th at the Campo de Golf de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires.
- Campo Argentino Polo: Since 1957, our institution has a bar of food placed below the main grandstand. We stay there the whole year, especially during the Campeonato Argentino Abierto de Polo. A group of company donates the products so that we can prepare and sale the food at the stand. We have an excellent group of volunteers who also donates their time and effort.
- Charity Wine Auction: On May 30th, the first auction of special and premium wines took place at Hotel Madero by SOFITEL. The second auction will take place in April 2008 at Marriot Plaza Hotel.
COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES
- Square without Barriers: This project seeks the integration of all people, no matter their physical abilities, through games and fun, so that all children may swing or play on the merry-go-round at least once. After a design competition, we got the winning designs of two innovative games as well as the drafts for the redesigning of the Intendente Seeber Square and the Haití Square.
- Tourism without Barriers: ALPI is designing the Guía de Turismo Accesible. This guide has lists of hotels, restaurants, tourist tours and gas stations prepared for any kind of disabilities. Acess to information is free and available at: www.alpi.org.ar
- Trainings for the Community: "Tools to provide the best hotel service to those with physical disabilities". ALPI launched training courses for people working at hotels and tourism areas, who are or may be in contact with guests having physical disabilities.
- ALPI Biennial Award: It was established in 1967; its purpose is to acknowledge outstanding performance resulting from effort, personal improvement and social insertion of people who have had to face physical disabilities, highlighting their personal history as an example of life and encouragement for those in the same situation. This award was granted on March 19th at Centro Costa Salguero.
