The aim of Fundación Leer is to promote reading and literacy amongst children in Argentina, generating a long-lasting and positive impact in their personal development to facilitate their social inclusion.
This project aims at creating a children`s library in Quitilipi, Chaco province, and supplying it with 300 new children´s books, completely new in this rural area. An important aspect of the project is the training of local teachers in order to develop techniques that are aimed at an early stimulation of the literacy process. Promotion of reading and the teaching of basic literacy to children and families will assure the sustainability of the program.
Fundación Leer was founded in March 1997 to encourage, from the private sector, the reading habit, fundamental aspect in the education of children and main factor for their active social inclusion. The aim of Fundación Leer is to promote reading and literacy amongst children in Argentina, generating a long-lasting and positive impact in their personal development to facilitate their social inclusion.

NATIONAL READING MARATHON
Â
The National Reading Marathon takes place every year organized by Fundación Leer and more than 3,500,000 children around the country participates. Through the National Reading Marathon, which has no subscription fees, Fundación Leer tries to massively highlight around the country the importance of reading, in a festive environment that promotes reading: a necessary skill for individual and collective development.
Â
The day of the Marathon, children around the country, along with their teachers, families, volunteers, and other community members, gathered by the institution they belong to, get together in one place to spend a couple of hours reading and listening to stories and poetry; they share reading, and enjoy the different activities such as drama, and puppet shows, according to personal preferences.
