What are the requirements for entering the program?

Our policies:

Age requirement: applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of their trip.
Spanish level: volunteers must have a basic knowledge of Spanish (at least three semesters of study).
International insurance: volunteers must have an international medical insurance that covers them in case of accidents or illness, while volunteering with us. Many insurance plans already include this, however, program participants should check with their providers before purchasing a new plan.
Program start dates: Programs can start at any time throughout the year. The program starts with an individual or group orientation coordinated by the volunteer program coordinator.
Application dates: You should submit an application form and a CV at least one month prior to your preferred starting date. Applications submitted less than one month before starting date will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Program length: There is a 4-week minimum volunteer commitment, except for short-term group projects that are determined on a case-by-case basis.

Program placement fee

Volunteer Program: Our volunteer program has a one-time flat fee of USD 450, regardless of the length of your stay. Fees for group projects are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Program fee includes:

Specialized placement in an organization in accordance with your interests, skills and experience.
Pre- and post- departure assistance.
Arrival orientation.
In-country assistance and coordination.
Periodic site visits to the host organization by volunteer program staff where needed.
Insurance that covers you in the case of personal accident while volunteering. (This is not a medical insurance).
USD 100 of the program fee is allocated to the host organization where you will be volunteering.

Group projects: the fees for groups vary according to the length of the group project and the amount of people in the group. Volunteers teaching public health

Program fee does NOT include:

Spanish lessons.
Accommodation.
International emergency health insurance.
Travel to Argentina.
Local transportation costs or meals.

Payment, refunds and cancellations:

There is a program fee of USD 450 to be paid once the acceptance e-mail has been sent.

If a participant cancels the program more than 3 weeks prior to the start date, a refund will be issued for the program contribution paid, minus the USD 200. If the program is cancelled less than 3 weeks prior to the start date or during the program, a refund will not be issued.

If, for unforeseen reasons, HelpArgentina considers it to be in the best interest of the applicant's safety and quality of programming, the program might be cancelled. Upon this unlikely event, we will offer applicants the choice of re-scheduling the program or receiving a full refund on all contributions made. We are not able, however, to take responsibility for other costs applicants may have incurred while preparing for the trip.

Games organized by volunteers Our methodology is based on the idea of Responsible Volunteerism, which creates mutually beneficial value for both the volunteer and organization.

In the short term, responsible volunteering results in a network of involved and engaged citizens and in the long term; it often acts as a platform for a lasting commitment with the Argentine social sector. It also is a first step towards a rich and lasting friendship between volunteers and their host organizations and communities.

To provide his/her services freely and for purely altruistic purposes, with no intention of remuneration.
Volunteer for a minimum of one month at the host organization.
If, due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness or a change in travel plans, a participant is unable to fulfill his or her commitment on any given day, he or she MUST let a HelpArgentina representative know 24 hours in advance.
Sign a contract with HelpArgentina before starting his/her Volunteer Program, which states his/her agreement to comply with the above-mentioned responsibilities.
