HelpArgentina is a nonprofit that allows international donors to identify and support high impact nonprofits in Argentina.

Our goal is to strengthen the nonprofits working to create social change in Argentina, increase confidence in the nonprofit sector and promote the culture of giving among Argentines.

Argentina – A place to visit

Argentina has just about everything.Argentina Info1 From it’s beautifully diverse landscapes, to it’s cosmopolitan cities and lively culture, there is something for every traveller to admire and enjoy. It has a population of around 40 million people and it is the second largest country in South America, stretching almost 3,500km from the Bolivian border in the north, to Ushuaia (the southernmost city in the world), in the south.

The Iguazu Falls waterfalls in the north of the country and the Perito Moreno Glacier in the south are considered to be two of the most spectacular natural wonders in the world, whilst there are many other attractive destinations to visit, including: the beautiful Lake District in Patagonia, the dramatic mountain valleys around Salta in the north-west of the country, the famous wine growing region of Mendoza and the UNESCO protected wildlife area of Peninsula Valdes.


And then there is Buenos Aires. A vibrant, dynamicArgentina Info 2 city where the porteños (local residents) dance the sultry tango, adore football (soccer) and enjoy some of the best beef in the world.  

Argentina is friendly, safe and very affordable (in comparison to Europe and the US), so whether you are into walking or wildlife, theatre or tango, there is something for everyone to enjoy on their visit.

Argentina is blessed with stunning natural beauty and rich natural resources, however contrary to most people's perceptions from abroad, the country still has a substantial income disparity between the rich and the poor.

Some recent data includes:

•    By the most conservative measures 27% of Argentines live in poverty, and 9% in extreme poverty.

•    Childhood mortality, which has a country average of 14%, reaches considerable higher peaks in some provinces: 25% in Formosa, 22% in Catamarca, 21% in Chaco and 20% in Tucumán.

•    According to UNICEF, more than 600 babies are born into poverty in Argentina each day.

•    7% of the population lives off of less than US$1 dollar a day.

Evident from this data, is the devastating affect of the Argentine economic collapse of 2001-2002, which caused unprecedented social disintegration and suffering throughout the country.

While years of somewhat steady economic growth has followed the crisis, and despite a notable surge in the number of both Argentine and foreign non-profit organizations seeking to help the country, Argentina is still struggling.
