Sponsorship Campaign +Children+ Education
Mario is 14 years old and lives in the city of Berazategui, in the province of Buenos Aires. He has been participating in Cimientos' Scholastic Retention and Return Program since 2007. In the beginning of 2008, he had to sell his ducks in order to buy necessary school materials and prepare to begin school. With a shy smile he says:
"The thing is, I had some ducks that had some ducklings and I had to sell them so that I could buy the things I needed for school. Afterwards, with the scholarship money that Cimientos gave me, I bought some new ones…". This March, Mario is starting the 9th grade. His dream is to finish school and become a veterinarian.
Thousands of children like Mario make an effort to stay in school. That is why Cimientos launched the Sponsorship Campaign + Children + Education, which invites everyone to join in so that in 2009, many more children have the educational opportunity they deserve.
Through their scholarship, students receive economic support to cover their scholarly needs and receive an educational mentoring aimed at supervising and motivating them with their schooling. They additionally get to participate annually in a Students Day, where they exchange their experiences with other students that share their same circumstances.
