Hospital Austral

The Austral University Hospital and the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences together form the Academic Center of Health at the Austral University.  This link is one of the most relevant characteristics of the Hospital.

Teaching and investigatory elements are integral parts of clinical practice and pacient attendance.  The Christian identity is present in the daily routine.

The Austral University and the Austral University Hospital are part of the Cooperative Work of the Opus Dei, an institution of the Catholic Church founded by San Josemaría Escrivá.  The mission of Opus Dei consists in spreading the message that one can find God and serve towards the betterment of society at work and in everyday life.

 

Therefore, the work of the Hospital is not limited to attending to the ill, education, educational work and research.  Its professionals, catholic and not catholic alike, promise that their activities in the Hospital will be in concordance with Christian values and ethics.

This aspect promotes shared values for people with or without faith; mutual respect, freedom of conscience, a spirit of coexistance without any type of discrimination, caring and ethical behavior and justice.

In the field of health, the Christian identity is reflected, among other aspects, in the way our professionals respect the dignity of all patients.  Each patient is unique and in this institution our tasks revolve around satisfying each patient´s needs.  The professionals in the Hospital try to do their work with the highest level of professional and human competence, working in teams, seeking excellence, serving others with their work and assuming responsibility for their decisions and professional actions.
