Scholastic Retention and Return Program

Location: Public schools in Berzategui, Buenos Aires Province.

Description: The project requires an intensive collaboration with schools and their respective superivisors in the pursuit of inclusion, particularly the retention and return of low-income youth that are at a high risk of dropping out or are outside the school system. Taking into account its particular situation and specific needs, each school, with the backing of its supervisor and Cimientos, willl design a educational project to further said task. For 3 years, Cimientos will support the school in this effort through financial backing, the exchange of experiences and training, the promotion of a network among schools, and close collaboration.

The project, initiated in 2007, will continue through 2008 and 2009 with the training and support of teachers and school directors, and with the awarding of scholarships to students.

Budget:

US$1,000 (AR$3.000): partial support for the school retention and return program

US$ 5,000 (AR$ 15.000): partial support for the teacher training program of the school retention and return program

US$ 10,000 (AR$ 30.000): partial support for the teacher training program of the school retention and return program

US$20,000 (AR$ 60.000): complete support for the teacher training program in one school for one year
