Family schooling
A house becomes a classroom
Huilquimenuco is a place of the Painefilú Mapuche community, where every Wednesday a family home becomes a classroom. Between books and pencils a family story is woven.
Isabel Caniullan, is a 78-year-old grandmother, who lives in Huilquimenuco, a place in the Painefilú community.. Every Wednesday she waits for the teachers to go to the house of her son Oscar, a place that transforms into a classroom, where she, Oscar, Maria Hilda, Genoveva, Isabel and Alicia take classes.
To reach the house, the teachers walk a good stretch of winding road, crossing hills, with the coast of the river Aluminé as a witness.
