HelpArgentina is a nonprofit that allows international donors to identify and support high impact nonprofits in Argentina.
Our goal is to strengthen the nonprofits working to create social change in Argentina, increase confidence in the nonprofit sector and promote the culture of giving among Argentines.
Fundacava Foundation´s mission is to support economically and professionally all pastoral activities of the Church Nuestra Señora de La Cava in the diocese of San Isidro, province of Buenos Aires.
The Church´s most important project is the Santo Domingo Savio School which offers education and two daily meals to more than 1100 children and teens living in La Cava slum, in precarious houses, with very poor sanitary conditions and exposed to high degrees of violence, crime and drug addiction.
The School offers Nursery, Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary education. In view of the important deficiencies that people suffer in La Cava, our mission is to offer quality education so that our students can accede to a situation of equal opportunities.
Based on evangelical values, we educate in diversity, taking into account the special needs of each child, helping them become aware of their personal dignity and giving them the tools that will permit their insertion in society as honourable citizens.

Contribute to quality education for over 1100 kids and teenagers from La Cava slum in Buenos Aires.
Support  the cost of a student's education and daily meals through a monthly payment of US$35.
To support economically and professionally all the pastoral activities and programs of the Church "Nuestra Señora de La Cava"
The Scholarship Program seeks to finance some educational projects that are already successfully under way, to add others in our efforts to support quality education and also cover an important part of our maintenance costs of building and administrative personnel. The aim is that the school receives a US$35 monthly scholarship per student, that is 1100 scholarships, so as to cover our monthly costs and be able to incorporate new projects. To this date, we only receive scholarships for around 400 students.
Some of the ongoing projects that we would like to continue and strengthen are:
Extended hours
In Argentina children usually go to school four hours a day. In poverty contexts like ours this is absolutely not enough. As from 2005 our primary students from 1st to 4th grade have classes from 8am to 4pm. As from 2009 we have been able to complement this very successful project with Extended hours for our 5th and 6th form students. This project consists of two extra hours that they stay at school per day attending different workshops such as: maths and Spanish, computer lab, reading groups, art, music and gym.
Computer lab
As form 2010 our Primary School students have computer classes. Today it is completely impossible to think education separated from information technologies.
Oral language skills
Due to the slum context in which they live, our students have a big deficit in their oral language skills, which makes it more difficult for them to learn to write correctly. For some years now we have implemented different workshops to strengthen oral skills in all the students.
New Horizons
This project started in August 2010. Its aim is to accompany the students in the last three years of secondary school so that they can complete their studies, graduate and then insert themselves in a job or College. We seek to strengthen their Life Project through workshops and a tutoring program.Â
This is a very special year for the community of La Cava slum because the Parrochial School turns 50 year old. Looking back through the years we are filled with great happiness for so many achieved goals, so many dreams come true.
It makes us feel very proud to have been able, through these years, to grow in building infrastructure and consolidate our quality education project for more than 1100 children of the slum.
We celebrate this aniversary thanking all the people, organizations and companies that helped us throughout the years and committing to continue improving the education we offer. We want the children of La Cava to be able to make true their Life Project.
More education = More opportunities

New building for Kindergarten
With much happiness we inaugurated, on March 19th, a new building for the Santo Domingo Savio Kindergarten. The building is of modern architecture and has over 1000m2. It counts with 9 classrooms, offices, teachers´ room, multipurpose room, two playgrounds, kitchen and dining hall. Thanks to the Fundación Amalia Lacroze de Fortabat, that donated the construction, the children from La Cava will be able to start their education in a superb building that contrasts highly with their sorroundings. We are convinced that quality education is not only good teachers but also, and moreso in our context, the spaces that accompany the learning.  Click to see our opening day video.
