FONDEA - Fund for Strenthening Education in Argentina -

FONDEA is a social investment fund comprised of the support of a group of people interested in sustaining the improvement of education in Argentina.

This fund will allow us to support the development of two programs: "Schools of the Bicentennial" and ¨Project for the Institutional Fortification of public and parochial primary schools."

Description

The project "Schools of the Bicentennial" was founded in 2006 and is coordinated by UNESCO, IIPE, and the University of San Andrés.  The "Project for the Institutional Fortification of public and parochial primary schools" seeks to strengthen the educational processes of schools in the country.  Both iniciatives rely on highly professionalized structures to pursue educational improvement in schools with limited resources.

Both schools strengthen specifically selected schools that work with vulerable or low-income populations. The programs’ principle activities include teacher training for specific subject areas, preventionary health programs, and the building of a network that permits schools to sustain the quality of the education and academic level on their own, once the program has completed its first 2-4 years of existence.

Additionally, the schools are provided with books, readings, and other necessary study materials

Oversight

The funds collected by FONDEA are managed directly by Augustina Blanco (M.A. in Education, M.S. in International Relations) who collaborates to coordinate education reform in the schools selected by the programs.
