Born in 1975, the Peraj (Hebrew for flower) Program was conceived by the Weismann Institute in Israel. The program quickly became international in scope, replicated in more than 35 countries and implemented in 1,500 schools. More than 350,000 students have already participated in the program.
Since 2006, the Program has begun to be successfully implemented in Argentina by AMIA, in a social context with significant educational inequalities.
The "Peraj" Project identifies and reduces the amount of social vulnerability, linking young university students at risk of abandoning their studies with school-age children that are also at social risk through personalized tutoring. Through this innovative system, based in a mutually supportive model in emotional, social, educational, and cultural themes, there has been an increase in the educational performance of the participants. Their motivation to study, their self-esteem, and their responsibility and civil participation have also been benefitted.
This enterprise needs your support and collaboration to be able to increase the number of participants in Buenos Aires and to initiate this project in the poorest provinces of the country. The social impact in the involved populations is high. Meanwhile, we are developing a distinct strategy to confront the loss of links and social structures, and troubled childhoods.
